New Hampshire college students can still vote in state, for now

A controversial move by New Hampshire Republicans to prohibit voting by many of the state's college students appears to be dead - at least for now.

Republicans want numbers ahead of debt meeting

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Top Republicans on Wednesday pressed the White House to reveal its proposed terms for a deal to increase the country's borrowing authority, as officials indicated a $2 trillion hike would be needed to stave off a debt default through the 2012 U.S. elections.

Whoops! Three senators fall for fake bin Laden death photo

Scott Brown
Meanwhile, this photo of Scott Brown is real

Now this is hilarious coming from the party of "Read the Damn Bill!":
A trio of GOP senators over the course of the day today claimed to have seen a photo of the slain Osama bin Laden -- even as the White House was announcing that it would not release any such photos. But now it appears that the senators -- Scott Brown, Kelly Ayotte, and Saxby Chambliss, who is the ranking member of the Senate Intelligence Committee -- were duped by a fake bin Laden death photo.

It reminds me of the last line in a story I read earlier about how Osama bin Laden apparently had the equivalent of about $750 cash and two phone numbers sewn into his clothing:

Many lawmakers did not hear about bin Laden?s cash and phone numbers because they left the briefing before the question-and-answer session wrapped up.

Maybe if they paid more attention to their briefings they wouldn't get duped by fake photos.

Credit Obama and Bush? Bin Laden Death Exposes Partisan Divide

To what extent did presidential leadership play a role in ultimately finding Osama bin Laden, and who deserves the most credit for finally nabbing the world's most wanted man? Displays of unity aside, those questions remain the subject of a subtle but hot partisan debate.

America Keeps Promise to Victims of 9/11

Michael Goodwin, New York Post
Years from now, with generations long passed, we will better understand the bookends of our times. The first started an era and came on that blue-sky morning of Sept. 11, when the Twin Towers fell and, in an instant, the world changed. The second came last night, when word spread like wildfire. What? Bin Laden dead?Yes, yes, thank God, yes.

Osama Bin Laden: A Costly Manhunt

Osama bin Laden's death puts an end to a chapter that has cost the United States hundreds of lives, billions of dollars and countless resources. But it's unlikely to end the U.S. war against terrorism or reduce the resources spent on such missions, though how they are allocated will likely change.
