Cheers and Jeers: Wednesday

C&J Banner

From the GREAT STATE OF MAINE?

On to Round 2!!!

Reminder from Mary Rickles at Netroots Nation:

If you haven't heard, we're partnering with Democracy for America to offer scholarships to activists like you for this summer's Netroots Nation convention, June 16-19 in Minneapolis. The scholarship covers the cost of registration and lodging for at least 40 winners, so it's a great way to help make sure you have the resources to participate in the biggest progressive gathering of the year. Last year, over 2200 progressives attended!

This competition is your chance to show off what you're doing to move the progressive agenda forward. And it's our chance to ensure that activists of every age, background and economic bracket are able to join the other hard-working bloggers, community organizers, online strategists and union members in Minneapolis.

There are two rounds this year. Congratulations to the Round 1 winners who were announced yesterday. Round 2 is now underway. Click here to apply for your scholarship. To improve your odds of winning, don?t mention the time you and I did that thing with the thing in the thing next to the thing that had the thing. Y'know?the "thing."

And don?t forget that the Netroots for the Troops campaign is underway. Goal this year is to assemble 300 care packages at Netroots Nation for our troops in remote combat areas overseas. The donation link is here. Contributions are tax deductible, and if your donation funds the package that ends up going to the soldier who offs bin Laden, well, that'd be a helluva thing, now wouldn't it.

Synchronize your watches: the convention starts in 68 days. The first convention hangovers in 69.

Cheers and Jeers starts below the fold... [Swoosh!!] RIGHTNOW! [Gong!!]
